Colour Label Printers

Colour label printers put full-colour artwork, logos and coloured coding onto labels on demand, which is what separates them from the thermal printers used for despatch and barcode work. The machines here are the Epson ColorWorks range — the C3500 desktop model and the C7500 and C7500G production models.

They are inkjet printers, not thermal, so they do use ink cartridges. The trade-off is straightforward: you get colour and photographic detail that a thermal printer cannot produce, in exchange for consumables a direct thermal label would not need. The C7500G is the gloss-media variant of the C7500.

CDM Labels runs an Epson ColorWorks C7500 in our own print bureau alongside memjet-based digital label presses, so this is equipment we use daily rather than only sell. If your labelling is single-colour, a thermal label printer will almost certainly be the better fit, and we will say so — tell us the artwork, the volume and the label material.
