      About 4 x 6 labels

      A 4 x 6 label measures 4 inches wide by 6 inches long: 101.6 x 152.4mm. It is the standard size for courier and despatch labels, and a size that courier and postage label software supports as standard. You will also see it called a 6 x 4 label. It is the same label, named the other way round.

      We make it in two versions: the exact imperial size, 101.6 x 152.4mm, and the rounded metric size, 100 x 150mm. Both run on 4in desktop thermal printers. If your software or carrier template names one, choose that one.

      Most of the range is direct thermal, so no ribbon is needed. Choose the face and the adhesive for the job:

      • Economy direct thermal labels suit everyday despatch, where the label is read within days.
      • Top coated labels add a protective layer that resists scuffing and moisture in transit.
      • Permanent, peelable or freezer grade adhesive: permanent for cartons and mailing bags, peelable where the label must come off cleanly, and freezer grade for chilled and frozen goods.

      Labels come on rolls for desktop printers and in fanfold packs for high-volume printing. If a label has to last longer than a direct thermal print allows, a 4 x 6 thermal transfer label printed with a ribbon is available too.

      What size is a 4 x 6 label in mm?

      101.6 x 152.4mm. A 100 x 150mm label is the rounded metric equivalent and is used for the same job.

      Is a 6 x 4 label the same as a 4 x 6 label?

      Yes. Both describe a label 4 inches wide and 6 inches long; the order of the numbers is only convention.

      Do I need a ribbon for 4 x 6 labels?

      Not for the direct thermal labels, which make up most of this range. The thermal transfer version needs a ribbon.
